Adoptive Parents Charged In Connection With The Death Of A 7 Year Old Boy Found Dead In Washing Machine

A set of adoptive parents have been charged with capital murder and arrested almost four months after a 7-year-old’s body was discovered inside his residence’s washing machine.

On Tuesday, the Harris County, Texas, sheriff’s office announced the apprehensions of Jermaine and Tiffany Thomas. This comes after Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that an “extensive investigation” was conducted in the death of Troy Koehler.

42-year-old Jermaine Thomas is facing capital murder charges, and 35-year-old Tiffany Thomas is facing charges of injury to a child by omission.

The charges come following autopsy results that show that Troy had experienced old and new wounds. This led to his death being labeled as a homicide.

As to how the boy died and what injuries he had, the office didn’t disclose that information at this time.

On July 28, a missing person’s search had begun in Troy’s case. Authorities say that he had last been seen in the 4400 block of Rosegate in the city of Spring.

When homicide investigators had arrived to the residence, they questioned the parents and looked through the home thoroughly.

A couple of hours later, Troy’s body was discovered, with all of his clothes on, in a washing machine, located in the garage.

CPS noted that Troy was a foster child and had been adopted by the family in 2019.

He had just had a birthday two and a half weeks before he died.
