17 Year Old McKinney Teen Sentenced To Life In Prison For The Brutal Murder Of His Mother
A 17 year old from McKinney, Tx was sentenced to life in prison and given a $10,000 fine for the brutal 2021 murder of his mother.
On January 3, 2021 officers responded to a 911 call regarding 50 year old Stacy Barney being killed on the 700 block of Donelson Drive.
When they arrived they were met by Barney’s husband who showed them surveillance footage from the home of his son, Adam Barney, repeatedly hitting his mother in the head with a hammer.
Officers say the video showed Barney attack his mother from behind while she was sitting on the couch.
Then when the father came into the living room to see what all the commotion was his son attacked him with a screwdriver. He then fled the house on foot.
About 7 hours later authorities spotted Barney walking down the street and arrested him.
During the trial this week, forensic psychologist Dr. Kristi Compton said Barney had traits of a psychopath.
The state also provided evidence of Barney’s violent history towards other people.
After the trial the judge sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole and a $10,000 fine.
