Two men have been charged in the murder and the burning of the body of a 20-year-old woman, in Milwaukee.

The men that have been charged in the killing of Kania Brunson have been identified as Sultan Shareef and Johnny Hopgood.

On September 24, a witness found Brunson’s body, close to Keefe Ave. and Palmer Street.

Documents show that Brunson had been with Shareef, a married man, that morning, and authorities believe that he is responsible for her death. They added that Hopgood met up with Shareef later on, and they dumped her body, then lit it.

Brunson’s mother reported that Shareef had called her a week prior to the incident.

“He goes on to say that, I want to be done with your daughter, but she’s reaching out to my wife,” said Jennifer Meadows.

On September 24, Shareef’s friend contacted authorities, stating that he observed Shareef on top of Brunson in a car. He also said that the woman stated ‘he cut my throat’ and that she was begging for assistance.

Authorities weren’t able to find the suspects then, but a few hours after that, they were sent to an alley. There, they found that Brunson had been tied, shot, and set ablaze.

Shareef is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide and mutilating a corpse. He is being held in custody on a $500,000 bond.

Hopgood, Shareef’s brother-in-law, is charged with mutilating a corpse and harboring or aiding a felon. His bail has been set at $50,000.
