A Cincinnati mother who lost her newborn baby to unsafe sleeping is facing prison time after prosecutors learned that this wasn’t the first time it’s happened.
Brook Hunter was indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children by a Hamilton County Grand Jury Wednesday.
The charges come shortly after Hunter lost her second child due to the same action she was warned to stray away from.
On June 22 of this year, Hunter’s 6-week-old baby died as a result of co-sleeping. A year ago, her first-born child, at only a few weeks old, died from the same malpractice.
Following the first death of her child, Hunter was warned about the dangers of sleeping in the same bed or area with an infant and was instructed not ever do it.
Due to Hunter’s knowledge of proper safe sleep practices following the first tragic incident, prosecutors ruled that the 6-week-old’s death was a homicide.
A warrant was issued for her arrest on Wednesday after the grand jury decided to move forward with the charges.
