This year, there have been four murders that have transpired in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas, thus far.
For the past year, authorities have been teaming up with the neighborhood association to heighten safety measures. As a result, a plan is set to be implemented.
Deep Ellum is located in the Central Patrol Division for DPD and is comprised of several neighborhoods. As the fall arrives, a new unit will be dedicated to work out of Deep Ellum.
The Deep Ellum Foundation and some Dallas police officers will strive for safety in the area. It isn’t known how large the unit will be or when they will officially get started.
The new initiative is one component of a 14-part Deep Ellum neighborhood safety program.
The next section of the plan will deal with possible permanent road closures in Deep Ellum and additional cameras.
