Early Saturday morning, ex-Texas A & M track star, Shavez Hart,  29, died in a tragic manner, in North Abaco, Bahamas.

Sources report that Hart had been fatally shot outside of a nightclub, around 2 a.m., after attempting to break up a fight.

“This is so tragic. Shavez Hart was of course one of our finest athletes ever, but he was one of the kindest people I have ever met,” expressed head coach Pat Henry. “Words can’t describe the loss that the Aggies track & field family is feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”

From 2013 to 2015, Hart was with Texas A & M, becoming a standout track runner. At the end of his career with the Aggies, he was a ten-time All-American. He won a gold as a part of the 4x400m relay at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Hart also assisted the Aggies in finishing third place in the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Hart was originally from the Bahamas and competed in the 2016 Olympics games in the 100m and 200m. He earned a silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the 2016 Indoor World Championships.

On Tuesday, September 6, Hart would have been celebrating his 30th birthday.

A suspect has been apprehended, and an investigation is on-going.
