Alicia and Joseph Calderon, of Collin County, Texas, have been indicted after being accused of abusing women.
The incident occurred in a mobile home, in Wylie, on Park Drive, where the couple reside with their kids.
A February arrest warrant noted that officers were dispatched to the home for a welfare check. It was in regards to a woman who had been “locked in a room at the address for several months and was being transported to Medical City Plano.”
At the medical facility, the woman was said to have lacerations and burns. She told detectives that she had been put in a small room and placed inside of a dog kennel. She was struck with kitchen utensils and burned with scolding hot water.
On that same exact day, in February, detectives say that an elderly woman had come into the hospital, on a stretcher, from the same residence. She had been discovered lying in urine and feces. Court documents state that she was neglected.
One of the supposed victims told detectives Alicia made her steal out of Walmart, in Wylie, in December. When she got caught, Alicia forced her to get into a bathtub where she dumped boiling hot water over her. It resulted in serious bodily harm to her forearms.
In an interview, Alicia has said that the claims against her are untrue. She stated that she never took all the money out of the elderly woman’s bank account. Arrest records show that the woman had been missing tens of thousands of dollars.
Alicia Calderon has been charged with aggravated assault and injury to an elderly person, both felonies.
Joseph Calderon, her spouse, is facing felonies, including exploitation of an elderly person.
Last week, the two were indicted.
