Deputies responded to a 911 call about multiple people being stabbed and a suspect armed with a knife at a popular recreational tubing destination on a Wisconsin river.
Saturday, July 30, 2022, there were two groups of people having fun tubing in an area of the Apple River that runs through Somerset Township. At approximately 3:47 is when a 52-year-old man went on a stabbing spree killing 17-year-old Isaac Schuman and injuring 4 others stabbing them in their chest and torso.
A witness ended up snapping a photo of the suspect and other witnesses spotted him an hour and a half later at the river’s exit for tubers and he was taken into custody.
St. Croix County Sherriff Scott Knudson says whether and/or how the parties of tubers knew each other and what prompted the man’s violent outburst that erupted remains under investigation.
“We don’t know yet who was connected to who, who knew each other or what precipitated it” Knudson said at a press conference. “It’s a tragic day”
The sheriff’s department gave an update stating the four surviving victims were all in stable condition and their injuries ranged from serious to critical wounds to their chest and torso.
The name of the suspect wasn’t immediately released but St. Croix County Jail records show a 52-year-old man was being held without bond on suspicion of first-degree homicide, four counts of aggravated battery and four counts of mayhem.
