A reward increase has been issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety for information that will lead to an arrest in the murder of a child in 2002.
The Texas Rangers’ Cold Case website normally offers $3,000 for details in a cold case. However, DPS has said that reward information regarding the death of Dannarriah Finley, 4, has been upped to $6,000.
DPS stated that the increased amount will only be offered until the next cold case is shown. They usually do this bi-monthly as they attempt to get new leads and more details on these cases.
On July 4, 2002, Finley had been reported missing from Orange County which is near Beaumont and is close to Louisiana. She had last been observed sleeping at her mother’s home, along with her siblings and cousins, in her room.
Three days following that, her nearly decomposed and almost nude body was discovered. It was 27 miles away, on Pleasure Island, close to a dredge pipeline ditch off of State Highway 82. This is located in Port Arthur.
The case has never been solved. DPS has urged anyone with information to come forward.
To qualify for the reward, contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1 (800) 252-TIPS.
