Darius Anderson, Houston Texans Running Back, Faces Burglary Charges After Breaking Into Former Girlfriend’s Residence
On Friday, Houston Texans practice-squad running back, Darius Anderson, was charged with burglary of a habitation. This came after claims that he broke into his former girlfriend’s residence.
A woman dated Anderson, 24, off-and-on for the past twelve months. She told police that when she arrived home at 7 a.m., she discovered his car in her driveway. She said that she didn’t want to be around Anderson, so she kept driving. However, he trailed behind her car and attempted to cut her off as she was driving. When she believed that she had gotten away from him, she went back to her residence.
The woman added that she put her vehicle in front of her garage. This was so that Anderson wouldn’t be able to get in if he returned. But, as she was putting the garage down, Anderson resurfaced and forced his way into the home.
The woman is said to have fallen down stairs and then went to a second floor because Anderson was chasing her. Police say that she was able to retrieve her firearm before Anderson could get it and hid in a locked bathroom. The woman continuously asked him to go. But, he broke the locked door and started screaming, stating he was going to “beat her up.”
The woman contacted police prior to Anderson taking a pair of her shoes and leaving in his car.
She told authorities that the two had broken up two months ago. She also said that Anderson had struck her before, but she never reported it.
The Houston Texans released a statement on Monday. “We are aware of the report involving Darius Anderson. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time.”
Anderson has played for Texas Christian University, and then in 2020, he signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. After being waived by the Cowboys, he then became a part of the Indianapolis Colts practice team.
Reports indicate that Anderson hasn’t played in an NFL game, as of yet.
