Millions of Dollars Worth of Jewelry Stolen Off Brink’s Armored Truck

2.8kviews

A Brink’s armored truck transporting allegedly $150 million worth of jewelry to Pasadena, California was robbed.

Merchandise, including jewelry, belonging to 18 vendors from the International Gem and Jewelry Show was loaded on a Brink’s truck the night of July 10. The armored truck was to transport the expensive cargo to the Pasadena Convention Center for a jewelry and gem show.

All of the jewelry in the Brink’s truck, including a gold necklace with more than 100-karat of multicolored sapphires and other rare pieces, was stolen from the truck in northern Los Angeles County.

On Friday, the FBI confirmed they’re working with the LA County Sheriff’s Department on the case.

The vendors, some of whom have invested over 40 years of their lives to their jewelry, say they haven’t received a straight answer from Brink’s about their loss.

Brink’s released a statement in response to the robbery. “Earlier this week, a loss incident involving a Brink’s vehicle occurred near Los Angeles. According to the information the customers provided to us before they shipped their items, the total value of the missing items is less than $10 million.”
