Rashane Griffith, 24, and Devon Drumgoole, 21, were arrested and face charges for selling stolen gas at a lower price. They retrieved the gas from closed stations in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Suspicions arose when multiple vehicles were observed at a closed Citgo station on June 14. Authorities say that the two suspects had equipment that assisted them in hacking the pump. They then sold the gas to others who paid through an app.
Police say that the men stole about $14,000 worth of gas.
They have been charged with grand larceny, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools.
Investigators are now working to determine if the men targeted any other gas stations in the area. They are also figuring out if those who purchased the stolen gas will be charged.
An investigation is continuing.
