Camera Footage Shows Dog Starting Major House Fire By Turning On Stove

1.5kviews

On Friday, close to 8:40 a.m., a fire broke out in Parkville, Missouri.

After reviewing surveillance camera footage, it seems as though the fire was started by the family dog who went up and touched the top of the stove.

Firefighters state that the dog “activated the controls and turned on the burner.” A pan that had been used for dinner, from the night before, was on the stove. They say that the grease in that pan then caught on fire after the pan was heated.

No one was inside of the residence; there were just two dogs. Neighbors could see smoke coming from the home, but both dogs were rescued and lived.

The home will have to have extensive repairs.

The family has now asked that others “please use built-in safety’s if available, on appliances, when not in use and accessible to children and/or animals.”
