Teacher Arrested After Husband Finds Text Messages, Showing She Was Having Sex With Her 17-Year-Old Student

Rebecca Kilps, a 34-year-old teacher from Wisconsin, was apprehended after claims that she sexually abused a student. This was discovered after her husband found explicit text messages that she had sent to the teenager.

On Monday, Kilps appeared in court. She had previously quit her job as a Spanish teacher, at Two Rivers High School, in Manitowoc County.

On May 24, Kilps was apprehended and charged with three felony counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff.

Authorities were alerted about the incident after a school social worker had stated that the teacher may have been involved in sexual behaviors with a 17-year-old.

Documents reveal that the next day, Kilps’ husband contacted authorities. Because he thought that she was cheating, he had gone through his wife’s phone while she was asleep.

When her husband had questioned Kilps about the messages, she confessed to sending them to a student. The messages discussed loving the teen and their future plans together.

Reports note that the teen told authorities that he had first encountered the teacher during his freshman year. He added that they had engaged in sexual intercourse, two times, inside of the teacher’s residence. The teen said that things had “gone too far” and “went bad.”

Kilps told police that she had started having feelings for the teenager in October of last year. After he graduated from high school, she wanted to divorce her husband and marry him.

Kilps has been ordered not to be in contact with anyone under 18, except her son. She is now free on a $10,000 bond.

On July 22, Kilps will appear in court again to determine if there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial.
