Michael Meadors, 69, is a lawyer from Gainesville, Florida. Last July, he had been apprehended and accused of child sexual battery and possession of child pornography. Now, he has been disbarred.
The arrest came after a parent had stated that they had discovered explicit content of her child on a family friend’s phone. The parent had given that information to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Documents note that Meadors videoed himself going into a room where the 8-year-old was asleep as she was staying with him. He then molested the girl.
Later, Meadors confessed to molesting the child in a recorded call. “I don’t know what’s the matter with me. I’m so sorry,” he said. He added that he only touched the girl, and it didn’t happen every night that she was there.
Meadors was charged with one count of battery on a person under the age of 12. He then received a $345,000 bond on nine charges of promoting the sexual performance of a child and 12 charges of sexual performance by a child.
Meadors has pleaded not guilty.
