Mother Of Texas School Shooter Didn’t Believe Son Shot His Own Grandmother

On Tuesday morning, Salvador Ramos is said to have shot his grandmother in the face and then drove to an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. There, he killed 19 children and two teachers.

Adriana Reyes, Ramos’ mother, was in shock when she learned that her son could have carried out the acts of violence. On Tuesday night, she told her boyfriend’s mother that she was still searching for Ramos and didn’t believe that the 18-year-old would shoot his own grandmother.

Maria Alvarez’s son, Juan, has been Reyes’ boyfriend for close to a year. Reyes traveled with her wounded mother to San Antonio right after the shooting. She later went back to Alvarez’s residence, in Uvalde, searching for her boyfriend. She appeared to be in shock about the incident that had occurred in the small city.

“I came back because I have to find my son. I don’t know where he is at,” Maria Alvarez stated that Reyes had said. Although the grandfather, Rolando Reyes, told Adriana Reyes that Ramos had shot his grandmother, the mother couldn’t accept it.

“I don’t believe that my son would do that. He loved my mom,” Adriana Reyes is quoted as saying.

On May 17 and May 20, Ramos purchased two AR-platform rifles and purchased 375 rounds of ammunition on May 18.

“I’m going to shoot my grandmother. I’ve shot my grandmother… going to shoot an elementary school,” are some of the Facebook messages that Ramos posted that morning.

Alvarez added that she had never seen Ramos before, but his mother often talked about issues that she was having with him. She said that many of their disagreements were about school as Ramos was supposed to graduate from high school this year.
