A Georgia pastor was stabbed and killed by a man who she was ministering. The man then put her body in a van and set it on fire.

Reverend Marita Harrell, 57, was a senior pastor at Connections at Metropolitan United Methodist Church.

Harrell was visiting Christopher Devonta Griggs, 27, at his home to mentor him on Wednesday. That’s when Griggs attacked her, killing her. He then put her in her vehicle and set it on fire.

Harrell’s body was found in the burned van several miles from her home the day after she was killed.

Homicide detectives determined that Griggs stabbed Harrell with a large kitchen knife before setting her on fire.

He was arrested on May 19 and is facing charges of murder and arson in the first degree.

Reverend Harrell leaves behind a husband and two children.
