The United Airlines worker who got into a physical altercation with ex-NFL player, Brendan Langley, 27, has been terminated.
The incident, that went viral, depicted the unnamed employee pushing the ex-Denver Broncos cornerback at Newark Liberty Airport last week. Langley is then seen striking the employee, causing him to fall back.
The employee got back up and slapped the athlete across his face. Langley then punched the worker so hard that he fell to the ground and started to bleed.
The employee got up and was then ready to fight again.
“You want some more? He wants some more!” Langley screams at the worker. Two other employees then broke up the altercation.
After the incident, Langley, a receiver for the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders, was apprehended on a charge of simple assault.
It isn’t for certain who threw the first blow, but the former airline employee hasn’t been charged. A video that was uploaded online seems to reveal that Langley may have hit the worker first.
The incident is said to have started after Langley used a wheelchair for his luggage.
“…y’all ain’t off the hook…worst customer service in the entirety of my life on Heaven!!!” Langley posted to Twitter. He went on to say that the employee assaulted him and that he was acting in self-defense.
United Airlines has stated that they don’t “tolerate violence of any kind at our airports or on board our planes…”
Langley’s current team also made a statement. “The Calgary Stampeders football club is aware of the reports concerning Brendan Langley. The team is currently looking into the matter in order to learn the full details and will have no further comment until the investigation is complete.”
There is no information on whether the former employee will be charged, at all, in the case.
