A man attacked a suspect, in court, in relation to the death of his brother.
The Cuyahoga County, Ohio, sheriff’s office stated that Jaelan Brabson was being sentenced on April 20.
That’s when Travon Singleton, the victim’s 28-year-old brother, was granted the right to give a victim impact statement. This came after his mother had made her comments.
As Singleton was walking to the jury box, authorities say that he ran towards Brabson and jumped on top of him. He then put both hands around the 19-year-old’s neck and attempted to choke him.
At some point, officers were able to wrestle Singleton to the ground and pull him off of Brabson. They then put him in a different room.
Later, Singleton was given 15 days in jail for contempt of court.
Documents show that Brabson had pleaded guilty to multiple charges. These include involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery, in connection to the death of Jaymarr Singleton, in July 2021. Authorities say that Brabson was one of three people involved. However, they believe that he was the shooter.
Eventually, Branson received his punishment of 25 years in prison at the Lorain Correctional Institution.
