A couple in Illinois said that they found what seems to be a McDonald’s bag containing fries from 60 years ago. The discovery came as they were doing some home improvements.
Rob Jones said that the fries were still in their container behind one of the walls of their home.
When Jones had stripped away a toliet paper holder, he saw an “old white rag.”
“We pulled the rag out and could feel something wrapped inside,” he commented.
Jones then reluctantly unraveled the rag, found the fries, a McDonald’s paper bag, and two hamburger wrappers.
“I was glad to see that it was just French fries,” the homeowner posted last week. “I was nervous that I was about to solve a cold case.”
Jones is pretty certain that the fries, that were still ‘crispy,’ had been there every since the home was built in 1959. On the bag was a winking Chef Speedee mascot that was displayed from 1955 to 1961.
In 1968, McDonald’s started using a version of the Golden Arches that are featured today.
Jones also said that the couple lives near one of the first McDonald’s locations in Crystal Lake, Illinois. That specific location was opened in 1959.
