Conroe police in Texas shot and killed a 19-year-old who they say was firing a gun into a home.

According to police, Larry Marqual Mixon III went to a home on Tuesday and engaged in an incoherent verbal altercation with the residents.

During the altercation, police say Mixon pointed a handgun at the residents, then left the location.

Conroe police received a 911 call around 7:30 p.m. about a disturbance at the home with weapons involved. When officers arrived, Mixon had reportedly returned to the scene.

The first officer at the scene reportedly saw Mixon standing by his vehicle, firing shots into the home.

The officer then fired three shots at Mixon, one of which struck him. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

The residents told police they have never seen Mixon before. It’s also unclear to investigators why he targeted their home.

Police said Mixon had been involved in two disturbances at local businesses just before Tuesday night’s shooting.

Bullets that were fired went through the front door of the home, but no one inside was injured.

Conroe PD said the officer involved is a six-year veteran of the department.

Both Conroe police and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
