On Wednesday morning, the human remains of missing woman, Ariana Taylor, 23, were discovered in Gary, Indiana.
Authorities say that close to 9 a.m., in the 2100 block of Colorado Street, next to a shallow drainage ditch, the body was found. A K-9 helped with the discovery.
Because an investigation is still on-going, police have not stated whether foul play is a factor in the case.
Taylor was reported missing last week by her mother. She had last been seen spending the night out with friends.
The SUV that she was driving was found first. It had wrecked and gone down an embankment on I-65 next to the border of Lake Station and Gary. But, nobody was inside.
Relatives say that Taylor’s wallet, cell phone, and keys were no where to be found either. They added that bloodied-clothing and her jewelry were located several feet away from the crash site.
Furthermore, police state that Taylor’s remains were located close to a mile from where her vehicle was found.
Gary police are conducting a death investigation and say that Taylor may have walked to the area after the crash.
An autopsy is being performed to determine Taylor’s cause of death.
