On April 2, tragedy struck the second annual epic Easter bike out and field party in Southern Dallas.
An individual began shooting at this concert and trail ride, leaving 16 people injured and killing one. Dallas police are diligently locating the suspect.
One victim, Jazmin Anderson, was shot in the head. Anderson, 22, was near the stage when she was shot. She was standing next to 26-year-old, Kaelon Gilmore. Gilmore was shot and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A stranger raised Anderson, carrying her out of the crowd to an ATV. She was transported to the hospital and in surgery within an hour.
The neurosurgeon explained “the bullet split apart, and Anderson will have bullet fragments in her brain for the rest of her life.”
Anderson will never be the same again, doctors expound.
“The part of the brain that it affected was her impulse issues,” said Monecia Anderson, the victim’s mother. “Like the math, they ignored” the part of the brain that affects her math skills will be affected.”
A team within the hospital works with Anderson doing simple exercises to keep her brain stimulated.
Parents are focused on getting justice for their daughter.
Monecia pleads, “This is real. If anybody knows something, please say something. They need to be brought to justice.”
The family set up a GoFundMe account for Jazmin’s medical expenses.
