On April 11, a house caught on fire in Greenville, Texas. The homeowner and four cats died as a result. However, 19 cats and 1 dog were located alive by emergency crews.

It is unclear who the victim was or where exactly the residence was located.

Deputies from the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office enlisted the SPCA of Texas in order to assist with the animals.

The dog was recovered from a crate, the SPCA noted. The animals were transported to the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center in Dallas. Later, the dog and one cat had to be taken to an animal hospital for further evaluation.

The rest of the cats are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation, as well as other ailments.
