The Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, released a statement expressing his condolences to the family. He also reiterated what an amazing, hard worker Haskins was.

Dwayne Haskins played college football at Ohio State before being selected by the Washington Commanders in 2019. He was selected in the first round draft.

Haskins then signed with the Steelers in January 2021.

At the time of his death, Haskins was in Florida for training with his teammates.

He re-signed with the Steelers on a one-year contract in March. A restricted free-agent tender was placed on him prior to the start of the new league year.
