After a physical fight with a homeowner, a 43-year-old burglary suspect was apprehended last week in Ventura County, California.

On April 1, close to 6:30 p.m., a homeowner arrived to his residence to see a sports utility vehicle stationed in front. He also observed an unknown driver sitting inside of the car.

As the homeowner went into his home, he was confronted by a burglar. The man hit the suspected burglar, and the burglar then fled the home and went back to the vehicle.

Then, the homeowner encountered another burglar inside of his home. He has been identified as Alexis Provoste Aranguiz. Those two got into a tussle, and the homeowner was able to hold him down until authorities arrived.

When police searched Aranguiz, they discovered stolen items on him. The driver of the car and the other suspect left the scene and are still being sought.

Before he was taken into custody, Aranguiz was seen at a medical facility for multiple facial fractures.

He has been charged with first-degree residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. Aranguiz remains jailed with a $150,000 bond.

Authorities say that Aranguiz is from Chile. They believe that he is a participant in a South American burglary ring. This involves criminals submitting applications for visas online, traveling to Los Angeles, and victimizing homeowners.
