A woman abandoned her two young children for weeks on end in a motel room. The 12-year-old daughter was pulled from school to take care of her 1-year-old brother.
Ashli Rene Lock, 37, was arrested and charged with felony child abandonment after police discovered the children. The children were found malnourished and living in filth at a Quality Inn in Houston.
There were broken bottles on the floor, drugs in plain view, slime in the refrigerator and mold throughout.
The 12-year-old girl told police that she had not left the hotel room for about a month. The little girl explained that her mom works as a bartender and is always gone. Her mom never left her with proper food to feed her little brother, so she has been giving him mac ‘n cheese.
The 12-year-old girl did not have her mother’s phone number or any way to contact her.
The unidentified 12-year-old also showed cops pictures of injuries that were inflicted by Lock.
Lock was convicted of felony theft in 2016 and felony drug possession in 2018. She currently has a pending DWI case making its way through the court system.
Child Protective Services is now involved and the kids have been placed with other family.
