A firefighter, in Phoenix, Arizona, has been taken into custody after authorities say that he raped a woman inside of her residence.

On March 17, the victim was spending time with friends in downtown Phoenix and was too intoxicated to drive her vehicle, court documents state.

That’s when Carlos Encinas, 25, said that he would provide the victim with a drive home in her truck. Records show that the two had known each other.

When they arrived to her home, Encinas requested to use her restroom. The victim allowed him to and went to sleep.

When she later woke up, Encinas was sexually assaulting her.

“The victim attempted to push [Encinas] off of her and told him to stop,” documents note.

But, he didn’t adhere to the woman’s pleas and continued to assault her.

Encinas and the victim texted each other two days later. He then told her that he was sorry and that he would never do it again.

It was reported that Encinas disclosed to authorities that the sexual encounter was consensual. He said that “he did not hear the victim tell him to stop.”

After being accused of sexual assault, Encinas was arrested and taken to jail.
