Quavo Criticizes The Grammys As J. Prince Calls For Protest

1.2kviews

After J. Prince’s notion of protesting the Grammys, Quavo and possibly Migos won’t be in attendance. They will put together a hip hop concert that will happen the same night.

On Wednesday, Quavo stated that the Grammys aren’t important anymore. He says its time to begin “our own awards…that appreciate the real s**t going on in the streets.”

“Old language” is what Quavo describes as the method that the Recording Academy uses to categorize his genre of music. He doesn’t agree especially since rappers like him are doing the creating.

The protest as a whole came about as the Academy prohibited Ye from performing because of “concerning online behavior.”

Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince has also called for Ye, Drake, and Nicki Minaj to disclose to the Grammys that they will be a part of a Vegas concert on April 3.

J. Prince has expressed that the only way for change to occur is if hip hop’s biggest artists alter their plans and have their own show.

Ronnie DeVoe, from New Edition, weighed in on the situation, showing his support for J. Prince’s event. Since traditional award shows haven’t always been inclusive, he says its time to send a message to the music industry.
