A 7-month-old baby girl has died after she was mauled by a family dog in Georgia.
An American bulldog/Great Pyrenees mix attacked the baby, Serenity Garnett, at a home on Tuesday.
Baby Garnett was immediately rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Migdelia Guadalupe, the great-grandmother, was babysitting at the time of the attack. Guadalupe was also hospitalized getting injured while trying to pull the dog away. Her injuries, however, are non-life-threatening.
The animal belongs to the owners of the home where Guadalupe rents a room.
Authorities are still investigating what triggered the fatal dog attack.
The dog is being quarantined for rabies testing pending the investigation.
