A Las Vegas father is accused of whipping his 5 year old son to death Wednesday with a cable cord.
According to reports officers were called to a residence on the 700 block of Center Street around 1:30am regarding an unresponsive toddler.
Upon arrival they found a 5 year old not breathing. Emergency crews immediately attempted to do life saving tactics but were unsuccessful.
The toddler was pronounced dead at the scene.
The child’s father, Gerald Oglesby,33 told officers that he had beat his son with a cable cord for talking back. He told officers he was awarded custody of his son in February and began using physical discipline with him shortly after.
Oglesby also said he saw his son watching tv with adult age characters and became upset. He said he hit his son with a cord and a slipper in his torso and abdomen. The boy began vomiting and stopped breathing.
When the boy stopped breathing the father texted his sister and told her, ‘ I think I killed him’. He then tried to revive him and when that wasn’t successful he called 911.
Oglesby was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. He is being held with no bond.
