While on spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, six male college students overdosed on cocaine laced with fentanyl. They were then hospitalized.

On Thursday, first responders had come to the scene after four people were discovered, suffering from cardiac arrest, in the front lawn of an Airbnb rental property.

Two other people had become ill, too. This was after providing CPR two the initial overdosed individuals. Then, naloxone was given, an opioid-overdose-reversing drug.

One person is in fair condition, two are in good condition, and two are intubated in critical condition. The other person was treated and released. Furthermore, rescue workers in hazmat suits could be observed going in the property to ensure the house was safe to re-enter.

“These are healthy young adults, college students in the prime of their life. Getting this drug into their system, it’s unknown what the recovery will be on the critical individuals.” This is extremely alarming to us,” stated a Fort Lauderdale Fire Department representative.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
