Dallas Kimball Basketball Player Arrested In San Antonio After Gun Goes Off Accidentally Shooting Student Trainer
A Dallas Kimball basketball player was arrested Wednesday night after he brought a gun on a bus and it discharged shooting a female student trainer.
The incident happened in San Antonio after basketball practice. The team is down there for the boys state semifinal at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Thursday night.
After practice the students loaded onto the bus to go grab dinner. During that time one of the players had a gun and it discharged striking a student trainer.
The trainer was struck in the leg and transported to an area hospital where she underwent surgery. Officials say she is headed back to Dallas and expected to make a full recovery.
The student player was arrested and it is unclear if he will face criminal charges at this time.
Dallas ISD superintendent Michael Hinojosa said the school district is investigating how or why the player had a gun with him.
In a conference Thursday Hinojosa said, “There’s no excuses for what happened last night, calling the incident “extremely disappointing.”
This investigation remains ongoing.
