Ex-Deputy Won’t Go To Prison In Child Rape Case, Receives Plea Deal

2kviews

Brian Beck, an ex-Shelby County deputy in Tennessee, had been charged with two counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery. He agreed to a plea deal of aggravated assault on Monday.

Beck’s charges were connected to an investigation related to a 14-year-old girl. The incidences occurred in 2016 and lasted for close to two years.

The deal keeps the victim from testifying “in a difficult case to prove beyond a reasonable doubt,” the district attorney’s office stated.

Beck was given a four-year sentence with three years suspended. He will have a felony on his record that can’t be removed. He may never carry a gun or be a part of law enforcement again.

Beginning on Monday, Beck will be on supervised probation for three years. He must do 150 hours of community service, undergo random drug tests, and have no communication with the victim. If he doesn’t uphold these guidelines, he may have to serve his four-year sentence.
