Texas Police Chief Placed On Administrative Leave After Using The N-Word Multiple Times At Murder Scene

Brian Jackson, a police chief in Texas, has been placed on administrative leave. This comes as the city looks into a matter of him using the N-word several times at the scene of a murder.

The racial slurs were heard on a bodycam recording of one of the deputies. Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown then informed leaders of the city of Castroville of what he had overheard.

Brown disclosed that Jackson used the N-word three times while at the scene of a homicide on February 5. He had been discussing where a murder victim, Elijah Chandler, had come from.

On Tuesday, a vote was held, and Castroville’s City Council unanimously decided to put Jackson on leave, pending the outcome of an investigation.

“Discrimination and racism are huge problems in our country and the world. It can’t be a problem in Castroville,” stated the mayor, Darrin Schroeder.

The mayor also noted that Jackson was previously responsible for bringing the community together. He remembered the time that high school students in the area wanted to conduct a Black Lives Matter protest. He said that Jackson made arrangements so the protestors felt safe by keeping officers at a distance, so the students wouldn’t feel threatened.

Jackson has worked for the department since 2012.
