Columbia University Psychiatrist Suspended For Calling Black Model a “Freak Of Nature”

1.2kviews

Effective immediately, Jeffrey Lieberman has been suspended from his position at Columbia University. There, he is the chair of psychiatry. He has also resigned from his role as a psychiatrist in chief at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital.

These actions come after Lieberman tweeted about the dark skin complexion of South Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech.

“Whether a work of art or freak of nature, she’s a beautiful sight to behold,” the post read.

Many other medical professionals expressed their dismay at Lieberman’s tweet. They feel as though it is inappropriate for a doctor whose job it is to care for people of all races.

Prior to his suspension, Lieberman emailed an apology to his colleagues. “An apology from me to the Black community, to women, and to all of you is not enough. I’ve hurt many, and I am beginning to understand the work ahead to make needed personal changes and over time to regain you trust.”

For now, Lieberman has shut down his Twitter account.

  1. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my
4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a
hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
