An Indiana mother was arrested in Kentucky after leaving her autistic son in Ohio Saturday night.
According to reports Heather Nicole Adkins,32 abandoned her non verbal autistic son about 75 miles from their home in Indiana.
A passerby saw the boy walking between Sheed and Gaines Road around 9pm in the rain and called police.
Authorities arrived and took the 6 year old boy to Hamilton County Jobs and Family Services.
On Saturday Kentucky officers responded to a disturbance at a gas station and upon arrival they found Adkins acting erratic.
After learning she had a warrant from an unpaid ticket back in 2011 she was taken into custody.
While in custody Adkins told conflicting stories to officers regarding her son. She later admitted to leaving him on the side of the road.
She is waiting for extradition back to Ohio where she is charged with felony child endangerment.
