One of Corey Joseph Marioneaux Jr.’s children was hurt while under police care.

Marioneaux, 24, from Pensacola, Florida, has been charged with attempted murder after shooting at officers. They had barged into his residence to serve a search warrant, and both of Marioneaux’s children were inside with him.

Family members say that Corey wasn’t aware that it was cops coming through the door when he began firing.

The man was arrested for attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. He was released on a $50,000 bond.

Now, Moiya Dixon has hired The Cochran Law firm to look into the case after one of her children was injured in the ordeal.

Authorities had put both of their children in a police car as the situation was going on. When an officer opened the door, 1-year-old Cylen fell out.

“He had bruises all over his face. I couldn’t find his forehead. His lips and his nose bloody. It was disgusting,” the mother said. She also claims that police attempted to cover it up by asking her not to go to a hosiptal since emergency crews had already looked at the child.

The mother is deciding if she will sue the city and the department for the boy’s injuries.

Meanwhile, Marioneaux’s lawyers would like his case dismissed, citing he wasn’t the person police were looking for, and he didn’t know it was the police.

Authorities say the search warrant was in regards to an officer involved shooting that occurred in January. They haven’t said if Marioneaux was their person of interest.

The police department is investigating the matter.
