Fire Station Suspended After Racist Comments, Including Mocking 8-Year-Old Girl’s Death In Police Shooting

Briarcliffe Fire Company Station 75, in Pennsylvania, has been shut down for 30 days. Members are accused of making racist remarks about other firefighters. They also made similar comments about 8-year-old Fanta Bility who died by police gunfire, last year.

A virtual meeting occurred to talk about merging that station with the Goodwill and Darby Township fire companies. When the meeting was over, some people logged off the computer while others stayed on.

The Briarcliffe firefighters didn’t know that the video call wasn’t private. Goodwill company memebers hadn’t logged off.

“A bunch of f—ing n—- down there,” one man said. He was referencing the all-black Darby Township Fire Company.

Another remark referred to the all-Black police chief, using a racial slur. That person also remembered a time that the chief rode in a Briarcliffe car which angered him.

“F— S—-, and he’s looking in the truck,” he said.

Other comments made included how Black firefighters are lazy and how Black people are everywhere.

“That’s the f—–g problem. Blacks are taking over s—,” one person said.

The firefighters then mocked the death of Fanta Bility, 8, who died by the hands of police.

“Fanta soda, yeah, orange or Fanta grape,” one man said while laughing.

An investigation is continuing, and it will later be determined if the 30-day suspension will become permanent.
