Family Sues After DNA Test Reveals Father And Daughter Are Not Related

An Ohio family has filed a new lawsuit after a DNA test revealed shocking results.

Jeanine and John Harvey went through an insemination procedure in 1991. Their goal was to fertilize the wife’s eggs with the husband’s sperm to increase the chances that she would become pregnant. The procedure was done at Summa Health System with Dr. Nicholas Spirtos.

Jeanine became pregnant and gave birth to a girl, Jessica Harvey Galloway. The family’s lawyer said that they “clearly stated a goal of having a child who was genetically related to both of them.”

However, Jessica found out that the man who raised her wasn’t her biological dad. This revelation came as she was about to take a trip to Europe, in 2020, and did an Ancestry.com DNA test.

After genealogy studies were done, Jessica found out the identity of her biological father. It turned out that he and his wife had also been seen by Dr. Spirtos during the same time period as the Harveys.

The Harveys have sued, citing malpractice, negligence, and fraud against Dr. Spirtos and Summa Health System.

“Learning that your entire reality isn’t what you believed it to be is hard to explain. It’s like waking up in someone else’s life,” said John Harvey.
