16 Year Old Found Fatally Shot In Mesquite

Mesquite police are investigating after a 16 year old teen was fatally shot Saturday evening.

Officers responded to a shooting call regarding a person falling out of a vehicle on the 2800 block of Clay Mathis Road.

Upon arrival officers found a 16 year old male laying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators initially believed this to be a motor vehicle accident. They then found a puncture wound consistent with a gunshot wound to his chest.

They are working to determine the circumstances and motive that may have led up to the shooting.

The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.

This investigation is ongoing.
