55-year-old Laura Spears, of Oakland County, Michigan, got a big surprise when she opened her spam folder on her email account.
She saw a message, stating that she had won a $3 million lottery jackpot.
Spears disclosed to lottery officials that she purchased a ticket on December 31 for the Mega Millions drawing on Michiganlottery.com.
“I saw an ad on Facebook that the Mega Millions jackpot was getting pretty high, so I got on my account and bought a ticket. A few days later, I was looking for a missing email from someone, so I checked my spam folder…,” Spears said.
Then a message form the lottery agency got her attention.
“That’s when I saw an email from the lottery saying I had won a prize. I couldn’t believe what I was reading, so I logged into my Lottery account to confirm the message… It’s all so shocking to me…I really won $3 million,” she added.
Spears says she will use the money for an early retirement.
Now, she is making sure she doesn’t mess up again. Spears has placed the Michigan Lottery on her safe senders list just in case she wins again!
