After several allegations have been made against Pastor Rickie Rush since the mid-90’s, authorities have now given a criminal case over to prosecutors.
Rush, 61, the pastor of Inspiring Body Of Christ Church, in Dallas, has been accused of sexual and physical abuse.
He has said that the allegations against him aren’t true.
Although they aren’t thought to be effective in Texas, Rush’s lawyer has stated that Rush passed a polygraph test last year. The results were provided to detectives to prove that there was no deception, he added.
During an investigation, 11 ex-church members said that they had been sexually or physically abused by Rush. They allege that the events occurred when they were younger.
One accuser, Donna Fields, now 48, said that Rush sexually assaulted her in a school restroom while she was 16 and pregnant.
Now, police feel that they have enough evidence to take it to a grand jury.
With an election on the horizon, if Creuzot challenger, Former Judge Elizabeth Frizell gets the case, it could be problematic. She is a longtime acquaintance of Rush and has been on the board at IBOC and campaigned there.
She has declared that if it came down to it, and she didn’t think she could be fair, then she would get a special prosecutor for the case.
