French Man Sues For Being Bored Out Of His Mind At Work, Wins $45,000

A french man was granted $45,000 after his job “..bored him out of his mind.”

Frederic Desnard was a manager at a perfume manufacturer in Paris when he claims the job affected his mental state. He stated that after losing a big client, he was stuck working on tedious responsibilities for four years. Desnard claims these duties made him “depressed, destroyed, and ashamed.”

Desnard decided to get a lawyer and file a lawsuit to get compensation for his suffering. His lawyers argued in court that his work life caused him to have an epileptic seizure while driving. They also expressed that Desnard had to take six months of sick leave due to his alleged failing mental state.

This isn’t the first time that Desnard has attempted to get a large check through the fault of his employer. He previously sued for nearly $600,000 on the grounds of harassment and unjust dismissal with the company.

The judge did not rule in Desnard’s favor previously. This time around, however, the ruling was in his favor. Desnard won $45,000 in the settlement.

According to boredom specialist Dr. Sandi Mann, the “bore-out” disease is becoming an increasing problem in offices around the world. In France alone, it affects one-third of all workers.
