A man died and a firefighter was injured during a fire at a Mesquite apartment complex Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded to a medical emergency at the Country Club apartments located on the 1900 block of Pinehurst Lane around 10:30pm.
Upon arrival they found a man suffering from a heart attack and immediately started performing cpr. They tried to give the man oxygen through a tank when it exploded causing a fire.
Firefighters were not in uniform and tried to pull the man out the house. When that was unsuccessful they quickly ran out the apartment to retrieve their gear.
One firefighter was rushed to Parkland hospital and suffered second degree burns to his hands. The man the firefighters were help did not survive.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the oxygen tank to explode.
