William Stewart, 73, and his wife, Carol, 69, died just seconds apart while holding hands. They had been married for over forty years.
The couple had been placed in the hospital after contracting COVID-19. They were unvaccinated.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts to share that last night at 9:12 p.m., Bill and Carol peacefully passed away hand in hand with their loved ones bedside. They fought a long and hard battle with covid, both intubated and on life support, ” their nephew, Tim, wrote on a GoFundMe page.
It is reported that 8 members of the couple’s family tested positive for coronavirus. The couple stayed on life support for eight days and two weeks. After being infected, Bill experienced complications with his lung and kidney.
The couple was from Massachusetts. Bill worked as a machinist, and Carol worked in electronics and then health care.
On the day of their death, they were placed side by side, so that they could die together.
“As soon as they touched hands, my father took his last breath, and then my mother 10 seconds later,” their daughter, Melissa Noke stated.
Bill and Carol are survived by their three daughters and seven grandchildren.
