Two People Killed In Shooting Off Malcolm X

Dallas police has arrested two individuals in connection to Sunday’s deadly shooting.

The incident occurred around 12:42am on Malcolm X Blvd.
Officers were working the Deep Ellum area when they heard gunshots.

They responded to the location and found the
victim, Kenneth Walker,18 fall to the ground from a gunshot wound to the stomach. A handgun fell from his hand.

At the same time, they observed a male suspect, Lathaniel Pearson,19 firing a handgun. Officers commanded for him to drop his weapon. While dropping the weapon Pearson tried to flee the scene.

A small foot chase ensued before Pearson was arrested and taken into custody.

When officers returned to the scene, they noticed multiple victims had been shot.

A second victim, Darryus Rice,19 was shot in the head and transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Walker was also transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead.

Pearson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for firing into a crowd.

A second suspect, Omari Cooper,20 was also arrested and charged with Walker’s murder.
