Survivor Of Plano Mass Shooting Awarded $85 Million

Carly Shockey has been awarded $85 million after suing a bar, the owner, and the bartender.

In 2017, Shockey was enjoying a football game at Meredith Hight’s residence in Plano. The estranged husband of Hight’s came to the location and fatally shot Hight and seven others.

25 year-old Shockey was shot in the face.

Spencer Hight, the estranged husband, was shot by police and died. His blood alcohol level was. 33, four times the legal limit, at the time of his death.

In 2018, Local Public House of Plano, was sued by Shockey for serving Spencer negligently. He visited the bar two times the day of the shooting. According to a report, he was given two gin and tonics at 2:39pm.

Authorities say he went home afterwards and drank more. Four hours later he went back to the bar and was served two beers and a vodka. Employees reportedly saw a knife and gun in his possession.

The killings took place shortly thereafter.
