A woman posted a video on social media that has been circulating. It depicts a man from Atlanta holding on to a smoke, attempting to catch a ride. This occurred on two separate 18-wheeler trucks at two different times.
Now, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association and Trucker Associations across the country are concerned.
Ed Crowell, the president of a truckers association shared a statement. “I would caution truck drivers once they have done their walk around the vehicle, take a second time around.”
Although it may seem funny, it is very dangerous. “That person can be just a split second away from being dead.”
If a trucker turns quickly, a person could be thrown off of it. Someone could also be injured if the driver slams their breaks or loses their grip.
Now, depending on the situation, a trucker and a rider could face consequences of misdemeanor traffic violations for recklessly driving and interfering with traffic.
