An infant is in critical condition after accidentally being run over by his mother in Memphis, Tn.
According to witnesses Tamara Roscoe, the baby’s mother, had gone out with some friends and been drinking when she returned home around 3am Wednesday morning. When she returned home she got into an argument that allegedly turned violent.
Roscoe told police that her boyfriend Tacobian Benner had attacked her so she grabbed her baby and left the apartment but on the way out Benner grabbed his gun and shot fires in the air. When Roscoe placed the baby in the front passenger seat she didn’t close the door properly and the infant fell out of the vehicle as she was reversing causing her to run over the child with her front tires. Roscoe’s sister who was outside during the incident saw the baby fall out of the car and rushed over to check on the infant and was struck in the head by the car door as the mother pulled back forward.
Police were called out to the scene and the infant was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The mother was taken into custody for outstanding warrants and will also be facing reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. The boyfriend too was arrested for suspicion of aggravated assault, assault and reckless endangerment.
